Most Instagrammable Spots in Eureka Springs

Perhaps Eureka Springs’ unique small town charm has captured your attention while searching for your next travel getaway. The buildings and homes in downtown Eureka Springs are everything you can dream of, and more. When looking online for photos of the town, that narrow Flatiron building filled most of my feed. Yes, you know the one I’m talking about! Although this is the most photographed location, there are many other Instagrammable spots in Eureka Springs. It’s a colorful wonderland of old Victorian, Queen Anne and Greek Revival-style architecture. While planning your visit to town, make sure not to miss any of these locations!

The Flatiron Building

The Flatiron building is #1 on the list of most Instagrammable spots in Eureka Springs since it is the most photographed location in town. You can’t miss it right smack dab in the center of the village as you come to the 3-way intersection.

The original building was constructed in 1880, but destroyed by fire in 1890. A new building was erected shortly after, but also destroyed by fire. The current building was built in 1987 entirely of concrete.

Today, the building is used as an all-suite lodge. Each of their 4 rooms provide a once-in-a-lifetime luxury experience. You’ll be treated with massages, jetted tubs, complimentary snacks and beverages, and truly the best views in town.

The Crescent Hotel

I’m sure you’ve heard of the haunted Crescent Hotel if you’re already planning a trip to Eureka Springs. Even if you aren’t staying at the hotel, don’t overlook the great photo ops you’ll find by wandering around the interior and exterior spaces. If you happen to be visiting during December, the entire hotel gets a holiday cheer makeover.

The 4th Floor Balcony

Many visitors to Eureka Springs don’t realize that there’s a pizza restaurant and bar on the 4th floor. Skybar Gourmet Pizza features a huge patio with stunning views of the Ozarks for 100’s of miles. The restaurant is open to anyone visiting the hotel; you don’t have to be a hotel guest. It may not be the best food you’ll ever eat, but it’s well worth a pit stop for the views.

Across the hallway from the restaurant is where the ghost tour starts. Grab dinner or a drink at Skybar to watch the sunset before your tour. Make sure to request an outdoor table!

Frisco Sporting Club

The Frisco Sporting Club, as they call it, is an outdoor hangout space behind the hotel. You’ll find swings overlooking the forest, axe throwing, human-sized chess and a bunch of other lawn games. They’ll also be cooking up ribs and serving drinks out of a converted bus. Decorated with string lights, you’ll be sure to capture some Instagram-worthy photos.

Thorncrown Chapel

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Thorncrown Chapel is quite possibly one of the most spectacular structures you’ll ever witness. Hidden within the Ozarks and entirely encased by large glass windows, the structure is illuminated distinctively from sunrise to sunset.

Renowned architect E. Fay Jones created this masterpiece which blends modernism and old world charm. If it looks similar to the Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens that’s because E. Fay Jones also helped design that structure.

Blue Spring Heritage Center

As you’ve probably figured out, Eureka Springs received its name from the gold mine of natural springs in the area. Back in the 1800’s, these springs were said to have cured all types of illnesses. It became a hot spot for tourists, just like Hot Springs, Arkansas did.

However, these springs have an even richer history often forgotten. The Osage and Cherokee Indians claimed these springs and their magical powers as their trading post in the early 1800’s. There have even been prehistoric artifacts discovered in the area that date back to 8000 B.C.

Today, the Blue Spring Heritage Center showcases the ecosystem of plants through the Ozarks. The most Instagrammable spots are the bright blue ponds throughout the gardens.

Rainbow Stairs

One of the other most Instagrammable spots in Eureka Springs is the rainbow staircase. This street art piece, also known as ‘Cash & Boardman Mural’ was designed by a group of volunteers in 2015. The UP Project began as a simple stairwell project, but created a community of artists, designers, volunteers and sponsors.

Cosmic Cavern

Even though the Cosmic Cavern is about 30 minutes outside of Eureka Springs, I’m adding it to this list because it’s well worth a visit. Unlike other caves in the region, this one is not connected to a larger cave system. It’s actually the largest privately-owned cave in Arkansas. What makes this one extra special is that there is piercing blue water at the bottom of the cave.
